After 90 days of fasting, Exodus men know well the joys of summer and feasting with family and friends. That joy can quickly turn to sloth and disgust in ourselves for going “all in” on the “feasting” (if that’s what you want to call it).

Fasting allows us to build self-control and understand what it’s like to live without certain pleasures. Feasting enables us to reintroduce those pleasures — to glorify God intentionally — in an appropriate way. 

In this issue of the Freedom Magazine, we focus on the importance of true Christian feasting — and how to do it well. As you’ll read in our Cover Story, “First we fast, then we feast.” Those words from Venerable Fulton J. Sheen remind us of the importance of the rhythm of feasting and fasting throughout the year.
